The Taekwondo grading at The Gap centre was held on Thursday night (the 23rd of March), and on Tuesday night (the 28th of March) we celebrated our grading results. We were very pleased with the grading and excited to celebrate our student’s achievements.
We are delighted to welcome Emily, Emma, and Leander who just graded from white belt to yellow, their first step on their journey to black belt. All three students trained very hard and we look forward to seeing what they can do moving forward.
Some highlights of our grading were our 9th Gups (now 8th Gups) who were particularly fearsome – they had the loudest kihap (“shout”) of any of the ranks at the grading. We were also impressed by Eli and Henry – who applied for their 4th Gup - they have been working hard on their sparring, and it has paid off, the two blue belts were particularly fast and ferocious in their sparring.
On Saturday the 25th, Roman Castiglione performed a demonstration for his Black Belt grading test at the Brisbane Black Belt Grading. This test was conducted by Master Bradley Tatnell. Despite the heat and a lot of nerves, Roman did well and has been approved to move forward to the next stage. He will now train very hard to perform the full grading test in July. Good Luck Roman!
After the Black Belt grading, the 1st Gups and Black Belts did a poomsae (pattern) intensive session. Master Bradley has just returned from visiting the Kukkiwon in Korea and had lots to teach us.
