MESSAGE FROM GRANDMASTER BRADLEY
It is with great joy that the black belts of Sun Bae KMA come together for Dan Promotion Tests, a celebration of their journey as Taekwondo black belts. Nothing is given and all applicants must earn their promotion through dedication to training and courage in testing. Nothing is more important than how you arrived at the promotion test day, proving the tenets of your Taekwondo character and spirit: Perseverance, Indomitable Spirit (Courage), Courtesy, Integrity (Justice) and Self-control. For adults, may your Taekwondo character serve you well in society, instilling success. For the parents, it is my great hope your children stride to achieve outside the training hall in all other endeavours, especially homework. Many studies have proven training such as ours will benefit not just physically, but also mentally, shaping great young minds.
TO THE BLACK BELTS
Firstly, allow me to express my appreciation for your ongoing efforts to learn and practice Taekwondo at Sun Bae Korean Martial Arts. Successfully grading is a result of years of dedication and determination culminating in a skilful performance at your promotion test. I am very proud of you all, a pleasure to teach.
Your black belt is your license for your future education and beyond. Maintain your skills, continue to be involved and respect your black belt status — you have most definitely earned it. It is my great hope you will pass on the knowledge to future generations in the spirit of how I have always taught. Your life as a black belt at Sun Bae enjoys many privileges — enjoy them. It is an honoured position, a leader within the club, but it is also a position which accompanies responsibility, so always be mindful.
A public list of all Sun Bae black belts (click here) is contained on our website. You hold an honoured position on that list. It is my great hope that martial arts and Sun Bae KMA will continue to form part of your journey in life. Martial arts breathes within us strength and courage, integrity and wisdom, not just inside the training hall, but also outside. I also look forward to your future achievements in Taekwondo as well as your personal and working life.
Again, congratulations on your test result, striving to do your best and enjoying a great year of martial arts in Taekwondo. Working hard is its own reward, but please rest assured all the black belt family is very proud. I can only further encourage you to continue your journey to the next level of black belt and beyond. And to those who were successful, you should firstly thank your instructor. The Instructors of Sun Bae have my admiration and respect — their dedication and devotion is a great example to all who train under them.
