Kumdo grading - dan & gup
The Sun Bae Kumdo (sword) grading test was held on Saturday 26 June 2021 at The Gap, Brisbane. It was attended by eight Brisbane applicants, one Toowoomba applicant, as well as black belts Shirly Sieh, Ben Vickery and John Handyside. Nicole and Sarahi also attended as practice for their upcoming black belt demonstration test — hopefully next grading.
The grading lasted approximately two hours with all aspects of Kumdo covered and was conducted by Master Peter Rozario — President of the Australian Kumdo Society, together with Master Bradley.
Of particular note, Andrew Shoebridge was successful in his black belt test. His performance was very controlled, showing great discipline for his level. You will also see some excellent cutting in the video below — accurately striking the mats always with the tip of his blade. We welcome him to the Kumdo black belt family and look forward to seeing more.
All results are included below.
Sun Bae's next event will be at Toowoomba for a half day seminar and workshop including mat cutting — Saturday 28 August — followed by (Toowoomba's famous) Korean BBQ dinner. The dinner is open to all participants and their partners and/or family. Master Bradley and Master Peter will be attending — please come and join them. Brisbane students are encouraged to stay overnight and fully enjoy your weekend.
