Recent achievements At Mt Gravatt
It has been three months since Instructor Ben took over Sun Bae Korean Martial Arts (KMA) Mt Gravatt centre, ushering in a wave of excitement and enthusiasm among the students. The successful reopening witnessed the arrival of eager students, both young and old, as they eagerly embarked on their journey to master the art of Taekwondo.
New students to join the Mt Gravatt centre include Dante Lee, James Thomson, Vivaan Manu, and Yousef Heidari in the junior class; with the adult class welcoming three siblings Ka Bo To, Ka Ka To, and Ka Wing To. Since their arrival, all new students have successfully passed their first interim grading to 10th Gup with yellow stripe, demonstrating their new skills and eagerness to learn.
Last month was the second Gup grading of the year with students from Reagents Park, Middle Park, and Mt Gravatt coming together to grading in front of Grand Master Bradley Tatnell. All students performed exceptionally well demonstrating the hard work that both instructor and student has put in to get to that point. Special mention to the following students who passed with honours: Emmitt Garske, Adhi Ruthiran, Isaac Villota, Keerthisuja Suresh Velraja, Athalia Manatsa, and Yening Shen. Hugh Farmer also successfully completed his promotion test to 1st Gup with Yellow stripe displaying an excellent knowledge of poomsae. As well as Gup gradings, black belt Dan gradings also occurred with Instructor Ben passing his demonstration test. This will allow him to grade to 4th Dan at the end of year and earn his master rank.
As we all enter the second half of the year, Mt Gravatt has their eyes focused on the club competition happening at the end of September. While not a massive centre (yet), Mt Gravatt is determined to prove that quality is better than quantity and is aiming to take home as many gold medals as possible. We are all looking forward to the event and will see you all then.
